GENERAL RULES AND GUIDELINES
First and foremost, please take your time to read through the sim's informational pages at your own pace. While it may seem like a lot, we've kept it simple and concise. Since this is a mixed lore environment, understanding the details is key to immersion. Try to embrace the suggested vibe to avoid disrupting another player's experience. If you’re feeling lazy about it, the easiest approach is to arrive as a clueless human tourist and learn as you go.
-
Second Life Terms of Service: Follow the Second Life/Linden Lab Terms of Service at all times.
-
Roleplay Theme: This is a supernatural, historical smut roleplay, set in a world inspired by ancient Roman themes.
-
Dress Code: Everyone looks apparently human except for a trait or another while in the main areas of the city - let's not scare the tourists at once. Further distant zones, go crazy with your form (nightclub, forests, inside the cinema, Red Light District, arena, hidden spots, gathering of your species etc). While the sim reflects an Ancient Roman resort, you may dress according to your chosen time period as long as it’s not futuristic, as this doesn’t fit the concept. Servants may be required to wear minimal or no clothing. BDSM regalia is welcome. Some species use glamour to appear differently from their true form as humans and lower-level supernatural species cannot see through these illusions and that's useful to hunt.
-
Joining the Sim: No applications required. You’re free to join and roleplay as you wish - check the page of the species of choice and make a Pick with your powers if possible.
-
Groups and Tags: The main group that you receive at the landing will give you Tourist tag and if you have a rental you'll have the Citizen tag from the land group. The main group also has tags for Humans, Mythicals, non-wolf or lion Lycans, Police etc. - ask a sim owner to include you. There are specific groups for Vampires, Werewolves, Werelions, Swanmanes and Fey if they will join one of the currently established factions - which is not mandatory. Please, for now, make sure to put what you are in a titler - we have one at the landing if you wish. Reason: supernaturals of certain level can see true form or smell/sense a species. So, unless you wish to be considered (not even treated as, but CONSIDERED) plain human in fit of lunacy by claiming something else, please wear the titler. Vamps, please denote lineage.
-
Joining Your Species: It is not mandatory to join one of the existing factions and you're free to start your own.
-
Starting as a slave without a Master or Mistress: You can take on the role of a slave owned by one of the Temples until you are personally owned by someone. During this time, you have the freedom to explore public spaces and engage in various activities. Be sure to read about the species you've chosen to understand their routines and expectations. You can work and be humiliated in places like restaurants, shops, street cleaning, baths, or the Red District, as long as you maintain compliance and obedience to the species you are serving when called upon. Alternatively you can roleplay being owned by a NPC Slaver for the purpose of being sold or auctioned.
-
Animal Avatars: Animal avatars, including talking animals, are allowed, as shifting characters are part of the world. Companion animals (NPCs) are ok too but, please, just the ones you wear at to not leave them rezzed around and, yes, you can have one represent an actual shifter who is played by someone else - check the FAQ about that bit.
-
Children Avatars: Children avatars are prohibited due to complications related to sexual roleplay. While pregnancy can occur between fey and humans, any child born must be sent away immediately. Vampires cannot become pregnant or impregnate (exception are merfolk) and werewolves cannot carry to term.
-
Dispute Resolution: If a dispute cannot be resolved maturely, it will be decided by dice rolling (no modifiers). Dice are available at the landing point.
-
Idle or Away Status: Do not remain idle or AFK in public. Log off, teleport to the landing point, or go to your house if you need to step away.
-
Rentals: All rentals are final. No refunds will be issued for early departures or bans due to rule violations. Temp rezzers are strictly forbidden. Going over prim limit will have your rental recalculated to match the excess.
-
Respect for Players: Treat all players with respect, regardless of the character they play. There will be no “book thumping” as the sim is inspired by many universes, not based on a single one.
-
Business & Roles: You’re free to create any role you desire, including running your own business. Doctors and nurses can use the clinic/hospital and charge their own fees. Slavers can use the auction block for processing and selling slaves. Players of NPC-servants can narrate their characters’ sale at the auction or handle it privately.
-
Sexual Orientations: Your character’s sexual orientation is welcome here and we will be furious if anyone questions that.
-
Voluntary Slavery or Servitude: Any supernatural race may become enslaved or indentured to another through voluntary submission, capture or sale. It doesn't mean their kind will not try to free them through challenge or repurchase.
-
Forced slavery: Since the Abolition, humans may live in Vero without being instantly enslaved. However, they may be subject to forced slavery and be put as game for hunt, capture and sale or trade if a crime or disrespect against a supernatural of the Pact is commited or if they are unemployed. They will suffer, however, prejudice from other beings and in no form would be considered equal or free.
-
Original Characters Only: Canon characters are not allowed to avoid copyright issues. Creativity and originality are encouraged. Historical characters might be ok, depending on talking to a sim owner about your idea.
-
Adapt to the Proposed Theme & Powers: Adapt your character’s backstory to fit the sim’s themes and available powers. Every leader of species is the leader because they are above the others in terms of powers and abilities - treat them with the proper deference expected of their given role.
21. Bad Things Happen: Step into this roleplay knowing it's an adult world with monstrous supernatural beings—not a fairytale. Bad things can, and likely will, happen, so be ready to face the consequences. Eroticism, open sexuality and rape are part of the world—if it's not your thing, fade to black and respect others who engage in it. Don’t take things too seriously. It’s dark but magical, with endless possibilities. Remember: don’t take it personally. Breathe, log off if needed, and come back ready to have fun!
22. No Drama: There is zero tolerance for out-of-character drama. Resolve issues calmly or walk away. Mute offenders or avoid offensive IMs. This means DO NOT post OOCly in the middle of roleplay to try to make a point: we aren't little kids needing to stomp around. If you are "needing" to post OOCly, then it's time to take a step back and refer to the above rule. It's an adult roleplay sim so adapt your issue to roleplay one way or another and sort it out. It's not real and losing is a part of it.
23. No Overwhelming IMs: Please, don't IM the IC leaders with nonsense as they aren't staff and are also in sim to have stories and fun roleplay and their inbox is not for complaints and whinning. Ask everything that you need to ask through roleplay, transform it in roleplay, weave stories from everything that you can. Now, if you have a question that is not about character initial creation, isn't answered in this website and cannot be asked in roleplay, the person that you need to IM is one of the two sim owners. We'd like to remind all that we do not and will moderate roleplay situations that should be sorted through storylines.
24. No "updates" via notecard: Please, DO NOT send a notecard with logs of a scene for someone to read: that's metagaming. If you need to leave a note, write an IC very BRIEF letter or phone text to another character. NOBODY got time to read a wall of roleplay as soon as they login. Every time you send someone a notecard you miss out a scene in which you tell them about a situation. If you don't know about something IC, then you don't know at all.
25. No Birding: Do not inform off-sim people about what's happening in order for them to come running to save the day ("birding"). White knighting is very unnacceptable. If you are not in the sim, then you are considered to be sleeping or something else. If you come to the sim, you better be informed IC about ongoings before trying to get involved.
26. Use of the Animesh Fuck Dolls: use at will in the location they are at (some in the Red Light, some scattered randomly, some at the club). Some are companions but we beg to please no have them follow you to get lost in the sim as they are very primmy and it's a pain to hunt them afterwards. More about including them in roleplay is on the FAQ since they are NPCs known to the residents of the island. All of them have menus that can be operated by someone who isn't in pose with them.
27. Fetishes and Kinks: Nobody will moderate people's fetishes and kinks so long the TOS isn't broken - case in which we will ban the fuck out of you. Mind you that depending on what it is people may have IC reactions that will displease you so, maybe, just maybe, if it's something way too extreme best keep it in one of the many hidden corners of the island.
27. Economy: Don't forget to register at the bank on the landing and to clock-in if you are on a job location. You have to request payment on the clock menu afterwards. If you come from money and don't work, ask dyce.boucher to fill your wallet with a reasonable amount. Also, obviously, make sure to charge in transactions when you work at a shop (you get to keep the money if there is not IC owner or manager to report to) so economy system has a point.
RIGHT TO LIFE AND CHARACTER DEATH
-
Right to Life: No one can forcibly kill your character without your consent. If you engage in disruptive behavior, you may be removed from the sim at the discretion of the administration. However, if you agree to the death than dead you are.
-
1a. If your character’s death or assassination is part of the storyline, you can choose to roleplay it out or “fade to black” and have your character be sent to the hospital for healing.
-
1b. Your Right to Life can be revoked if you engage in unreasonable actions, such as failing to roleplay a defense against an attack when your dice roll succeeds, or causing constant disruption without contributing to the storyline.
-
1c. Death in Vero is not permanent unless you choose it to be. There are many ways to avoid permanent death and explore other options in the storyline. But, again, if you agree to the death than you are dead. But, then, you can play a ghost until someone ressurects you.
-
ALTS, GENDER, DISCLOSURES AND BS
-
Multiple Characters: You may have as many characters as you like per account but make sure that 1) they look absolutely different unless you're playing twins; 2) their titlers are completely different; 3) that you're playing in a manner that will not generate metagaming: we have no time to micromanage that so we will trust you to be discerning.
-
Alternate Accounts (Alts): You may have as many alts as you wish, but be fair and give equal time to all your characters. Avoid spreading yourself too thin or leaving others hanging.
-
Metagaming and Godmodding: Do not use alts for metagaming (using out-of-character knowledge to influence in-character decisions) or godmodding (controlling other players’ characters).
-
Powergaming: Avoid creating an overly powerful or invincible character that disrupts the balance of roleplay.
-
-
Real-Life Information: Asking for real-life information is prohibited in the SL TOS. If someone pressures you for personal details, mute and ignore them.
-
Cameo Alts: You may use alts for cameos or specific roleplay scenes, but ensure they do not mislead others into thinking the participation is permanent.
-
Alts in Species: You must police yourself in order to not pass idea to others that you're trying to be all God/dess like by having too much power in sim. We'll not control that but we also don't want to see anyone end up muted and ostracized by others. So, if you have a high rank in one species, go low in the other in terms of politics. Needless to say: your chars shouldn't know each other or be in the same direct circle - let's not metagame by mistake or pass the idea that you must be.
LAW ENFORCEMENT
-
Understanding the role of Veran PD
The Veran police force has the role of investigating and solving crimes of public order and against members of The Pact. It's a very aggressive task force that has absolute leeway to find out information through extensive torture if needed. The Chief of Police function as judge and jury and will more than likely determine your fate - don't take them for granted. It's unlikely that someone will die during interrogation but it could very well happen. Shit happens. However, it's a lot more likely that a criminal will have his end at the arena for the amusement of all. Read in more detail here.
COMBAT RULES
-
First and Foremost:
-
You cannot even imagine engaging in any form of challenge against a leader of a species if you have someone from their hierarchy on mute, as that would prevent them from responding with the full logical force that is their right. Muting individuals is something you can and should do to avoid unnecessary conflict, but it should never be used as a way to evade the consequences of your own actions. If you find yourself in this position, it is best to choose the peaceful path of life.
-
You cannot mute someone in the middle of a combat situation, nor can you switch to OOC mode. Be mature, confront the situation, and if it becomes unbearable, walk away—even if it means accepting defeat. This kind of behavior warrants a ban after a second offense, as it shows you're not ready for roleplay and are taking things too personally to participate in a simulation like this. The first instance may be considered a mistake or ignorance and will result in a warning, but a second offense is already too much.
-
Do not challenge a leader of a species just for the sake of it, expecting to win without first discussing consent with them in private messages. Such actions have significant implications tied to the structure and organization of the sim. While it may seem exciting to you, it's certainly not appreciated by us, as it can affect many people and their stories and that's a giant responsibility. We are not here to support reckless behavior and they are authorized to react with a kill and/or hunt order.
-
-
Attacks:
-
Coming soon.
-
-
Law Enforcement:
-
Fights with law enforcement typically end in their favor. Plan for defeat in these scenarios.
-
-
Post Order:
-
Be mindful of post order in combat scenes. Only post when it’s your turn.
-
-
Expect to Get Hurt:
-
Role-play is about creating opportunities for interaction, not winning or losing.
-
Use combat as a chance to engage with other characters, such as medical staff or future revenge plots.
-
-
Weapon Handling:
-
Take 2-3 separate posts to draw and ready a hidden weapon.
-
-
Supernatural Powers:
-
If using a supernatural power, post between brackets what power you're using, as not all players may be familiar with its effects.
-
-
Fair Play:
-
If your character has physical advantages (size, strength, etc.), balance them with a weakness and make sure to incorporate it into your posts.
-
COMBAT STYLES
You can use a magical effects HUD for visuals if you wish
-
Freeform
-
In this mode, the outcome is determined through roleplay. Both you and your opponent decide whether one is defeated or both retreat based on the flow of the scene. This is the best, more mature and realistic way to go.
-
Dice Rolling
-
For attack use the GPHud for Melee, Ranged or Supernatural attack according to your post.
-
Roll and Roll Against are just generic dice rolls to decide situations.
ROLEPLAY ETIQUETTE
-
Turn Taking: Take turns in roleplay or follow a post order in scenes with more than two people.
-
Post Length & Group Scenes: Keep posts concise to ensure the roleplay progresses smoothly, especially in group scenes. If you cannot post a paragraph, wait for a reply before posting again.
-
Entering Scenes: You can enter a scene at any time but wait for at least one post before jumping in, so you understand what’s happening.
-
Post Timing: Avoid rapid, one-line posts but if it takes you more than five minutes to finish your post, type “(cont.)” and hit Enter, so others can keep reading. When done, type “(done)” at the end.
-
Wait for Responses: Don’t post and leave immediately. Wait at least five minutes for the other person to respond before moving on.
-
Away Status: If you have an emergency, log off or set yourself to Away so others do not continue posting to you while you are unavailable.
-
Fade to Black (ftb): Players have the right to “Fade to Black” (ftb) for interactions they don’t wish to fully roleplay. After that, the next post should pick up some time later and roleplay the consequences of the action.
-
Home or Business Invasion or Robbery: Avoid engaging in these types of roleplay scenarios unless others are present nearby to witness the scene or potentially intervene. After the scene, be sure to send a message to the affected roleplayer explaining what took place, so they can respond appropriately in-character.
-
No Abandonment: Avoid leaving a roleplayer in a situation where they cannot interact with anyone for extended periods, such as hours or days. This is considered poor etiquette. If a character is left in such a scenario for more than 2 hours, they are entitled to roleplay being rescued by an NPC or finding a way to escape. Always make sure to communicate any updates or actions related to your character’s situation directly to your captor. This ensures that everyone is on the same page and the roleplay progresses smoothly.
-
Roleplay Smart: Transform every interaction into an opportunity for storytelling. Rather than discussing matters privately in IMs, bring those conversations into the roleplay and engage in-character. If you have questions, uncover the answers through your character’s experiences instead of asking out-of-character. Encountering a conflict with another player? Resolve it within the storyline, using your characters' perspectives and actions. Look for any chance to involve others, weaving new narratives that include more people, and expanding the richness of the world through collaborative storytelling. The more you immerse in character-driven interactions, the deeper and more engaging the experience will become.
-
Don't be a dick in thought-emotes: If you got something rude or offensive to say about someone, say it to their face so they can react or, at least, give body language of it.
-
Tag reading: Don't read tags and use them IC unless they are specific made for that. Let's not forget that most use glamor to appear absolutely human and you'd have to be an advanced supernatural to recognize another or, at least, same species.
TINDER ROLEPLAY
-
Just make a Pick named (TINDER - Vero RP) and put a nice photo and the info:

IM to swipe Right (Like) on that person.
