GHOSTS

First and foremost, this was created probably to be played by alts and for fun since you will be trapped to a singular location. In no way ghosts have an actual aggressive role.

The ghosts who haunt a particular place of death each have unique appearances and specific conditions that govern their existence and their potential to move on to the afterlife. Their ethereal forms and lingering ties to the physical world reveal much about how they died, their personalities, and the unresolved issues that keep them tethered to the place of death, whether it’s a house, a shop, a street, a car, or any other significant location tied to their passing.

The spirits are bound to the place of death due to unresolved emotions, ties to the past, or the circumstances surrounding their deaths. Each ghost has its own unique reason for being unable to move on, and their lingering presence is shaped by their emotional and psychological states, for instance:

  1. Unfinished Business: Many of the ghosts are trapped in the place of death because they have unfinished business—tasks or relationships they were unable to resolve before their deaths. This might include unresolved regrets, goals left unmet, or things they failed to do or say. These loose ends create a strong pull to the mortal world, keeping the spirits tied to the location until they can find closure.

  2. Emotional Attachments: A strong emotional tie to the place of death or the living often prevents the ghosts from moving on. These attachments might come in the form of love, guilt, or a sense of duty to unfinished relationships. Some ghosts remain anchored to the space because they can't let go of people or moments from their past lives, even after death.

  3. Acceptance of Death: Many spirits cannot accept that they have died, and this denial of their own death keeps them in a state of limbo. Whether they passed away suddenly, tragically, or in confusion, these ghosts struggle with the realization that they are no longer part of the living world. Their spirits are caught between worlds, unable to move on until they accept the truth of their situation.

  4. Unresolved Guilt or Trauma: Some of the ghosts are bound to the place of death by guilt or trauma tied to their deaths. This could involve a painful memory, a moral failing, or an act of violence they were involved in, either as a victim or a perpetrator. The weight of this unresolved guilt keeps them from finding peace, forcing them to remain in the place and grapple with their pasts.

Moving On: The end of storyline

Each ghost’s ability to move on depends on resolving the issues that bind them to the mortal realm. These resolutions often come through self-realization, emotional healing, or external help from the living.

  1. Unfinished Business Resolved: The primary condition for a spirit’s release is the completion of their unfinished business. This could involve righting a wrong, fulfilling a long-held desire, or simply finding peace with an unresolved relationship. Once they’ve tied up the loose ends of their lives, the ghosts can find the closure they need to move on.

  2. Emotional Closure: Many ghosts move on when they can emotionally let go of their ties to the living world. This might mean forgiving themselves or others, letting go of guilt, or simply finding peace with their past. Emotional healing allows the spirits to accept their deaths and finally depart from the place of death, leaving behind the things that kept them bound.

  3. External Help or Intervention: In some cases, the living characters play a crucial role in helping the ghosts achieve closure. By offering guidance, facilitating resolutions, or helping the ghosts come to a new understanding of their lives and deaths, the living become instrumental in the ghosts' ability to move on. This external assistance can often lead to breakthroughs, giving the ghosts the peace they need to pass on.

  4. Self-Realization and Acceptance: A few of the ghosts move on through moments of self-realization. This could be the acknowledgment of their past mistakes, the acceptance of their death, or an understanding of their role in the world. Once they have gained this insight, they can let go of their earthly attachments and move on to the afterlife.

  5. Final Moments of Peace: The most poignant moments for the ghosts occur when they finally find peace, whether through accepting their death, making amends, or simply coming to terms with the life they lived. These moments of clarity allow the spirits to move on, leaving behind their emotional burdens and finding the rest they’ve been seeking.

The ghosts in these places of death exist in a state of limbo, each one struggling with their personal issues or pasts that prevent them from passing on. Their appearances reflect their individual stories, and their conditions for moving on are shaped by their unresolved emotional ties. While some find peace and closure, others remain, caught between the living and the dead, trying to resolve the conflicts that keep them anchored to the place where they passed away.

Appearance of the Ghosts:

  1. Decay or Injury: Many of the ghosts bear visible signs of how they died, such as wounds, bruises, or even decomposition. Some may retain the physical remnants of a violent or untimely death, adding a haunting aspect to their appearance. These marks can sometimes appear frozen in time, making their forms seem incomplete or unsettling.

  2. Period Clothing and Style: The ghosts’ attire reflects the time period in which they lived. Their clothing serves as a clear indication of their era, whether it be Victorian fashion, 1920s flapper dresses, or military uniforms. These period-specific outfits further distinguish each ghost and emphasize how their time on Earth was long passed.

  3. Intangibility and Transparency: The ghosts are mostly intangible, able to pass through walls and objects at will. This creates an ethereal quality to their presence. Sometimes semi-transparent or blurry, they can move freely through the space, but their ability to interact with the physical world can often lead to humorous or chaotic moments when they bump into things or unintentionally affect their surroundings.

  4. Frozen in Time: Many ghosts appear exactly as they were when they died, retaining aspects of their personalities or physical characteristics from their past lives. These features can include not only their clothes but also visible scars, wounds, or traces of their deaths, causing their appearances to feel incomplete or eerie, as if their passage through time has been halted.

Abilities:

  1. Intangibility: The ghosts in Ghosts are mostly intangible, meaning they can pass through walls, doors, and physical objects. They can also appear and disappear at will. This intangibility gives them the freedom to move around the place of death undetected by the living unless they want to be noticed.

  2. Communication: Although the ghosts are typically invisible to the living, they can communicate with those who are sensitive and able to see and interact with them (i.e. someone who had a near-death experience that acts as a bridge to the other world; humans with powers related to empathy; campires who can control ghosts etc). The ghosts can only make themselves visible to those people and are often quite vocal in their desires or complaints.

  3. Telekinesis and Whispering (Limited): Some of the ghosts have limited telekinetic abilities. For example, they can move small objects, create noise, or interact with the environment in subtle ways. However, these abilities are not universally strong or predictable, and some ghosts have more control over them than others.

  4. Aura haunt: Ghosts have specific effects when someone crosses through them: good and bad smells, a wave of lust, a psychodelic high, a sudden rage - be creative. The experience is painful for the ghost. The effects last up to 30 minutes.

  5. Sex: Ghosts may have sex with one another and with empaths very normally and may possess someone to have sex with a living who is not empath.

  6. Possession (Occasional): In certain instances, some of the ghosts possess the bodies of the living—usually with humorous or chaotic results. This ability is more of a comedic element than a regular power, and it is not always available to all the ghosts. It's accidental when the human is almost dead. Roll dice.

  7. Supernatural Abilities Specific to Their Death: Some ghosts have abilities that are tied to how they died and may affect the ambient under imense energetic cost. For example, a ghost who died in a fiery incident may have the ability to mess with electricity, while another who died due to illness may have some connection to illness or pain. These abilities are often subtle but provide opportunities for both humor and emotional exploration.

  8. Ghostly Traits: Each ghost also retains specific aspects of their personality or characteristics from life. For instance, some ghosts are more prone to certain behaviors (like being easily scared, obsessive, or argumentative), while others have traits linked to their social status, occupation, or personal quirks when they were alive. These traits often define how they interact with each other and the living.
